Guys, do you really need to get so worked up about a battle background?
It’s a mere coincidence. Well not every game is classified as art, in my opinion.
So one person may think he is made of skittles because his eyes are circular. At the risk of sounding stupid, I don’t get the point behind the spirtual abortion. I think its brilliant, this is one of the many reasons why this game is so amazing; the depth of the story and especially at the ending when you finally face Giygas and all the symbolism that comes with it. Contradiction anyone? watch the mods feed upon my flesh on this ridiculous forum.
God knows enough drawn on images have been posted by now, but just for clarity’s sake, here’s one more. I see the Greek letter rho.
Yeah, I know what you mean. Buzz gives Ness the Sound Stone to record the melodies found in the "Your Sanctuary" locations. He has been universally listed as one of the scariest/creepiest bosses ever. Take a look at how you’re reacting. LIKE A FETUS .-. And for the record, I don’t believe in the image of a so called “cords.”. Also, you’re mean!
They see it, but they are superficial people.
Sorry. This actually looks really plausible to me. I for one agree that video games are art, and a nice middle ground between expression and design when done right. In the aforementioned game, his name is Giegue. Man, I just got WAAAAAAAAAY off-topic there. Not only is the theory lame, but in that one interview, Itoi basically says, “You know, I have this info about Giygas that nobody but me has ever known for all these years, and it’s this…” and he goes on to talk about that movie.
That is the wrong way to look at things. It is known Shigesato Itoi, the producer of both games, was inspired by a film to make Giygas's speech in EarthBound. So reality for intents and purposes doesn’t matter.
Weightless?
https://creepypasta.fandom.com/wiki/The_Truth_About_Giygas?oldid=1088632. Analogies which are tied to fact actually are arguments, NOT just opinions. Not accepting the theory means saying giygas is in no way symbolic of a fetus, in which case you don’t have proof.
I’ve also not heard this theory on Japanese sites/boards either.
I believe that is what Giygas looks like. you make me angry like this guy! It’s there the whole time near the end phases of the battle, the screen simply fluctuates as though it is the surface of a liquid.
Earthbound is art, for example.
Some indicate that in the battle against Giygas, after being damaged, he looks like a human fetus. Though, a Greek giant named Geyes, the son of Uranus and Gaea, could be the inspiration for the name. Sure, Giygas isn’t exactly a fetus, but a metaphorical fetus. Not reality though. I can’t see any big picture behind the whole point. The next person may think he is a pie because he smells like one.
It’s the same as the “Paul is a dead man” urban legends; you can find it in there if you’re actively listening for it, but if you look at it practically it’s almost impossible that it was intentional. The scene may also support some of Giygas' dialogue throughout the fight, like, "It hurts," or, "I feel good.". Eventually, they come to a point where they feel it is too personal, or that the art simply is best for communicating said ideas rather than words – both are forms of communication. Treating everybody else like a bunch of complete and total idiots is not a debate, it’s just a flame fest.
The visual imagery probably has something to do with themes concerning “Loss of Innocence” and “Nature vs. Nurture” and the old idiom “Cut the cord,” but figuring that all out would take some time, and I don’t want to do any more speculating than has already been done. Many of you have probably played, or at least heard about the cult classic called "Earthbound".
There’s also the interpretation that, based on Itoi’s mention of feelings about Giygas being inspired by his perception of a violent movie scene as a rape … Rape does sometimes yield unwanted pregnancy.
WHE ARE TALKING ABOUT ”GIYGAS” It is there the whole time. Or…a bunch of them.
I consider myself more of a puckish rogue, really. It’s basically saying unless the details in art are obvious then they don’t have anything to do with the art unless the artist says it’s so. Next, many times artists don’t like to involve the public on the deepest most emotionally symbolic features of their art.
then, once they hear other things their mind just blocks it out because their is no way abortion and evil videogame villains could be related to one another. Again, why would Itoi intentionally put a lot of non-coincidental specific detailed effort into things such as the audio and text of giygas but then all of a sudden leave everything else up to arbitrariness, including the big ass background?- which is kind of freakin significant considering it plays the biggest part in the whole final scene!
What do Idoun and the chief of the Tenda village have in common? This topic sure can bring in an argument.
Moreover, I don’t think he drew the art himself, I would assume the art director did that. It’s entirely possible this is just wishful thinking or pareidolia or something else, but it’s a pretty neat resemblance just the same!
Edit: your picture means nothing as it ignores the specific details in the outlining. So, You could this as the representation of the corruption he suffered after the events of Mother 1. This also seems to be the position of the vast majority of other theorists in the thread. I’m reminded of the book Huckleberry Finn. Eventually, by using the prayer command, Giygas is defeated.
If he didn’t know it was a rape a scene than how could what actually happened influence what he puts in the videogame.
