His 2.0 yards before contact per rushing attempt (YBC/Att) ranked 24th among running backs, and was ahead of Derrick Henry, Josh Jacobs, Chris Carson, and Austin Ekeler. David Montgomery does look like the real deal. So again, Ryan Pace, the GM of the Bears, he’s the type of general manager when he likes a guy, he goes after him. Make sure you are subscribed to this #1 fantasy football podcast to dominate your leagues. You can follow me on twitter, @jeffkrisko for the same lukewarm takes you read here. David Montgomery from the time the Bears drafted him was set up to fail. Foles or [crosstalk 00:15:28]? Welcome to the show, everybody. So that’s just how it’s going to be. So to your point about Tarik Cohen, absolutely. I have both my personal and my YouTube, Twitter, YouTube handle, or Instagram, it’s @FaizSportstalk and then for my Twitter, it’s my name, @FaizanQuereshi. I’m not going to have that be the deciding factor of who’s going to be the quarterback. These guys are young, they’re inconsistent, and they’re unproven, so I do expect them to draft another receiver. He was pretty average and Chicago finished 8-8. It really was. Let’s talk about 2020 projection here. I know I had David Johnson, he kind of busted on me. What is the fascination with this? Contact: joe@ffcounselor.com. Yeah, that was a disaster to watch as a fantasy fan, because again, I had him in a lot of my leagues and I felt I thought he was going to be the guy. Not even just the goal line. Right, yeah. I’ve got a special guest here, Faizan on the show. If they go up to 5 yards per carry, that’s 1200 right there. But then when you go after somebody, you got to set him up to succeed. I have no doubt about that. He just sucks. If he averages 15 carries per game and hovers just over four yards per carry, he'll hit that number. A pretty good runner, catch the ball for a bunch of yards, and then they’d pull him out and they’d bring Tarik Cohen. David Montgomery isn’t a sexy name for fantasy football leagues this year – brussel sprouts aren’t ever the part of the meal you’re going to look forward to (if they are, it’s time to make yourself some better meals). Absolutely. He knows it now. That’s F-A-I-Zsportstalk, no space there. Thanks, Faizan. According to Fantasy Pros, Montgomery's early average draft position (ADP) is 50. This is especially true given that he’s going as a starting running back in non-PPR leagues and a priority backup in PPR leagues. In a 12-team league, that means he's a fifth-round pick. He turns in a poor-mans version of Jordan Howard with the Bears, who averaged about 1,300 yards and nine touchdowns per sixteen games with the Bears. Okay, so they’re going to address the O-line. I’ve got videos for every team, almost every player. I’m wearing a Bears hat. What's more shocking is that he's the 20th running back selected in fantasy drafts right now behind players like David Johnson (Texans), Todd Gurley (Falcons), Leonard Fournette (Jaguars) and Jonathan Taylor (Colts). But to me, it’s essentially negligible. But I kept seeing Tarik Cohen. They’re going to address the O-line like you said in the draft, right? I obviously watch the Bears up close and a lot, David Montgomery makes holes when there are no holes. Another big reason Montgomery didn’t turn in the season many had hoped he would be in his rookie year was Chicago not using him at all in the passing game, getting just 35 targets and only one ten zone target. I don’t understand what it is, man. But he’s pretty much paired up with Derrick Henrys and the Zekes of the world, in my three-headed monster scheme there. Matt Nagy was inconsistent with using him. I’m not afraid to take risks. So he has that ability, but they love Tarik Cohen, and so they love using him and that takes away from David Montgomery. Yeah, 3.7 yards per carry. But 64, I hope that goes the other way because now we got a guy that runs the ball 300 times, potentially. So in the draft, I absolutely expect them to address that, so that’s going to help. But a little bit more than he did last season. In a 12-team league, that means he's a fifth-round pick. I was looking for that big breakout run that just, oh, just never really happened for him. You kind of touched on it, so a little bit more production out of Montgomery. Fantasy Football Counselor is a licensed trademark. They need a guy who can really be a burner for them. He still had 25 receptions I believe, for 185 yards. Josh Jacobs had the same attempts, I believe 242. However, there’s plenty to like about Montgomery as a talented player who will have all the volume in the world to build on his rookie season.
